Facilities
  • Active Vision Laboratory

Grasping movement A system for studying human perception of 3D information and human movements. The system is composed of the following instrumentation:

  • A custom made virtual reality system for displaying Hi-Res 3D stimuli
  • Linear and rotary positioning systems for providing the observer with “real stimuli” and haptic feedback (VELMEX, blab la)
  • A motion capture system for detecting the position of the observer body parts (Optotrak Certus System)

  • Holography Laboratory

Hologram A system for studying human perception of 3D information by generating “real” 3D images. Holograms are different from stereograms, since the former generate points of light in 3D space, whereas the latter are pairs of images on flat screens. The holographic system will be comprised of a laser combined with a Spatial Light Modulator (SLM).

  • Laboratory for Noninvasive Brain Stimulation

The laboratory is equipped with a Magstim Rapid² repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulator (rTMS), a non-invasive biphasic magnetic stimulator. It delivers highly efficient short duration biphasic pulses that can interfere with cortical acitvity through inhibition or excitation, depending on the intensity and duration of the stimulation.
