La Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia - IIT - nasce con l'obiettivo di promuovere lo sviluppo tecnologico del Paese e l'alta formazione in ambito scientifico/tecnologico.

In questo senso, l'IIT è impegnato a realizzare il proprio programma scientifico, che vede nell'integrazione fra la ricerca scientifica di base e lo sviluppo di applicazioni tecniche, il principio ispiratore.

Gli ambiti di ricerca riguardano campi della scienza dall'elevato contenuto innovativo, che rappresentano le frontiere più avanzate della tecnologia moderna, con ampie possibilità applicative in molteplici settori dalla medicina all'industria, dall'informatica alla robotica, alle scienze della vita, alle nanobiotecnologie.

Il/La candidato/a selezionato/a supporterà le attività di ricerca del laboratorio di MRI e Optically Detected Magnetic Resonance diretto dal dr. Angelo Bifone, occupandosi di:

  • gestione degli strumenti di laboratorio (sistema home-built per microscopia a fluorescenza di nanostrutture, sistema per spettroscopia e Imaging a Risonanza Magnetica);
  • programmazione di procedure di acquisizione dati;
  • interfaccia degli strumenti con il sistema di controllo;
  • acquisizione dati.

Requisiti richiesti:

  • Laurea in Ingegneria, Fisica o affini, gradita specializzazione in Imaging, Ottica o Elaborazione di dati biomedici.
  • Conoscenza della gestione di sistemi in ambiente Unix/Linux; conoscenza dei principali linguaggi di programmazione (Matlab, C++) e di scripting (ad es. shell, python).
  • Conoscenza dei software per l’analisi d’immagini e dati (e.g. Matlab, AFNI, FSL or ImageJ).
  • Comprovata esperienza nella gestione di strumentazione per l’ottica, fotonica o Risonanza Magnetica.
  • Buona conoscenza della lingua inglese, scritta e parlata.

Costituirà titolo preferenziale la conoscenza di ambienti di programmazione per lo sviluppo di sistemi di controllo e misura (e.g. LabView).

Dal punto di vista personale i candidati dovranno dimostrare buone capacità comunicative e relazionali in un ambiente internazionale e multidisciplinare, proattività e forte motivazione al supporto dell’attività di ricerca.

E’ richiesta disponibilità oraria full time.

Postdoctoral Position in Computational Neuroscience in the Neural Computation Lab - Harvard-IIT Collaboration Programme

One post-doctoral position will be available in the Laboratory of Neural Computation, directed by Prof. Stefano Panzeri and located within the Center for Neuroscience and Cognitive Systems @UniTn, Rovereto (Tn), Italy, to work in computational neuroscience.

The successful candidate will work on neural population coding in close collaboration with Chris Harvey’s lab at Harvard Medical School (Boston, (http://harveylab.hms.harvard.edu) and Stefano Panzeri’s lab at Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (Rovereto, Italy, http://www.iit.it/en/people/stefano-panzeri.html).

The successful candidate will develop new analytical methods to study how populations of neurons encode sensory information and how this information is used to produce decisions.

The candidate will apply these methods to large-scale recordings of neurons in sensory areas and posterior parietal cortex using calcium imaging methods that navigate in a virtual reality environment.

We invite applications for a Post Doctoral position focusing on functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging in rat models of alcohol dependence. Specifically, we intend to develop and apply advanced methods to map the functional effects of existing and novel treatments of alcohol dependence at the level of brain circuits.

The successful applicant will work in Rovereto (Tn), at the Center for Neuroscience and Cognitive Systems, where she/he will have access to a state of the art 7T Bruker MR scanner and excellent computational facilities.

This position is funded by the EC H2020 project SyBil-AA (currently under negotiation) and the candidate will have the opportunity to interact with an international network of recognized experts in alcohol dependence and in neuroimaging.

The ideal candidate has a PhD in Biology, Pharmacology, Neuroimaging or related disciplines, and hands-on experience with in vivo experiments. Previous experience with BRUKER MRI scanners and/or processing of neuroimaging data would be an advantage. Fluency in English is a requirement.

Salary is internationally competitive and commensurate with the candidate’s experience. The position will be available for initial 2 years.

Internship in the Optically Detected Magnetic Resonance Lab

A research-assistant position (internship) is available in the Optically-Detected-MR laboratory of the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia in Rovereto (Tn).

Our multidisciplinary team is developing optical methods for high-sensitivity magnetometry with fluorescent nanoprobes.

This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in advanced optics techniques and instrumentation applied to bioimaging.

The position is ideally suited for graduates who wish to strengthen their research skills before continuing postgraduate study.

Applicants must have a Master’s Degree in Physics, Engineering or a related discipline.

Previous experience in computer programming with Labview is a plus.

The Functional Neuroimaging lab at the Center for Neuroscience and Cognitive Systems of the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia offers a vacant research position (internship). The research theme pursued is the analysis of functional connectivity fMRI datasets of the mouse brain. The position is ideally suited for graduates who wish to strengthen their research skills before continuing postgraduate study.

Applicants must have a Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Biotechnology, Neuroscience or a related discipline, and familiarity with computational or statistical methods for image analysis.

Hands-on experience in computer programming is strongly desirable.

The MRI lab at the CNCS@UNIITN is equipped with a state-of–the-art 7 Tesla MRI scanner for preclinical research and has a successful record in the development and implementation of advanced MR methods to describe macroscale networks of the mouse brain and their pharmacological modulation.
